Green Finance Strategy update briefing

In July 2019, the Government published the Green Finance Strategy – an overarching strategy for how the UK will finance the transition to a net zero and nature positive economy. The Government has since committed to publish an update to the strategy in early 2023. This will take stock of progress made to date and set out how the financial sector can further support energy security, climate, and environmental goals.

This Aldersgate Group briefing ahead of the update outlines our key recommendations including:

• Develop a comprehensive regulatory framework for greening finance
• Track private financial flows into the net zero economy
• Use public financing tools to attract private finance
• Provide policy clarity to the real economy
