Aldersgate Group reaction: OEP’s progress report

Signe Norberg, Head of External Affairs at the Aldersgate Group said: “Nature is critical for the economy and it is clear from today’s environmental progress report that a step change in action is vital. Businesses stand ready to invest in solutions that protect nature while driving growth, innovation and resilience, but they need the right policies, regulations, monitoring and enforcement in place.

“The government must use its review of the Environmental Improvement Plan (EIP) to create an effective framework for delivery, with clear targets, sectoral pathways and joined-up policies across Whitehall. It is welcome that progress is accelerating on air quality and that the evidence base for evaluating progress is being strengthened, however clarity will be important to drive action across the public and private sectors.”
