Join us for an in-person event to launch our latest report in collaboration with RenewableUK and CPRE, the countryside charity. This new publication will outline how the terrestrial planning system can be improved to act as an enabler for new renewable energy and grid infrastructure, whilst protecting nature, landscapes and communities’ right to input.

This event marks the publication of our final report and recommendations to government. It will feature key figures associated with the transition discussing the crucial next steps that government must take to accelerate progress. Read the full synopsis below.

The UK government has set out a mission to achieve a fully decarbonised power system by 2030. Bold collaboration across a range of sectors and disciplines will be crucial to deliver the new infrastructure needed, and wider benefits including new high-quality jobs, productivity and energy security. In this spirit, the Aldersgate Group, RenewableUK and CPRE, the countryside charity have come together to outline a clear set of recommendations to address challenges and deliver a planning system that is fit for a low-carbon future.

The event will open with a keynote address from a key figure in the transition, followed by an expert panel discussion chaired by Rachel Solomon Williams, Executive Director of the Aldersgate Group. There will be an opportunity for audience questions to the panel, followed by networking. The full speaker list will be announced shortly.

The interim findings of the project, published in July, are available here and set out our shared understanding of the challenges and what works well in the planning system. The final report explores solutions.

We look forward to seeing you at the event!
