Synopsis
The UK’s industrial strategy has a key role to play in generating growth and lowering emissions across the country. These two goals can work together in tandem to create a thriving and productive UK economy, but the right policy approach is fundamental to success.

The global swing towards protectionism means that it is ever more important for the government to focus on supporting a balanced UK economy through the industrial strategy, while engaging constructively with international peers.

The Aldersgate Group’s latest report, set to be published the week following this event, takes insights from expert member organisations across the private sector and civil society to identify the major growth opportunities on offer for UK plc with the right approach through the Modern Industrial Strategy. It highlights the challenges and opportunities that the process presents for policymakers and recommends measures to maximise benefits for the UK.

As the government continues to ramp up its mission to drive growth across the country, this discussion will reflect on the findings of the report, while providing business insights and an overview of the areas that should come into focus to cement the UK’s place as a global leader in low-carbon industry.
