COP26: Taking on the industrial decarbonisation challenge

Based on the Aldersgate Group’s extensive work on industrial decarbonisation, this in-person event in Glasgow on Tuesday 2 November, from 6pm to 8pm, looked at the key challenges that need to be overcome to put heavy industrial sectors on a path to net zero emissions, consider some of the key opportunities emerging from the net zero transition and considered the main policy levers for a successful transition to net zero emissions for sectors such as steel, cement, glass, chemicals and ceramics.

The event also provided a short overview of the key findings from the Aldersgate Group’s one-year project on industrial decarbonisation with Frontier Economics and University College London and will also include a cross-sectoral and multinational business panel as well as a dynamic Q&A session with the audience. Business and NGO speakers discussed the challenges and opportunities ahead from the perspective of their own sectors, demonstrating what they are already doing to reduce emissions in line with net zero and put the spotlight on the areas where investment and public policy decisions are a priority.
