The Aldersgate Group operates in an open and collegiate manner, with all members having equality of esteem and meeting quarterly to discuss policy matters.

The Board of Directors are responsible for the direct management of the Aldersgate Group’s resources and activities, and advise on operations and the work programme.

Peter Young, Chairman
Strategy Director, SKM Enviros

Peter Young is Strategy Director at SKM Enviros and has 27 years experience in multi-disciplinary environmental management consulting.

He is also founder and Director of CAT Alliance Ltd, a member of the Advisory Council for the Environmental Industries Commission and was recently a commissioner on the Commission on Environmental Markets and Economic Performance.

Adrian Wilkes, Vice Chairman
Chairman, Environmental Industries Commission


Adrian Wilkes is the Founder Chairman of The Environmental Industries Commission, which was launched in April 1995 to promote the international competitiveness of the British environmental technology and services industry.

He has been Secretary of the All-Party Parliamentary Environment Group since its formation in early 1993.

Sir John Harman, Treasurer

In June 2008, Sir John Harman stepped down as Chairman of the Environment Agency, having served the Agency (first as a Board member and then as Deputy Chairman) since 1996. Sir John received a knighthood in June 1997 in recognition of his services to local government and the environment.

Sir John is currently a Director of the Energy Savings Trust, a Trustee of Forum for the Future and a Board member of the National School of Government.

Ian Dickie, Director
Senior Consultant, Eftec


Ian Dickie joined Economics for the Environment Consultancy (Eftec) as a senior consultant in November 2007. Ian has advised the UK Government on environmental policies through Defra's Ministerial Regulatory Challenge Panel and the Environmental Innovation Advisory Group in DTI (now BERR).

Prior to working at Eftec, Ian was involved a wide variety of economic issues affecting biodiversity conservation as Head of Economics at the RSPB for 5 years.

Dr Tim Jenkins, Director
Senior Economic Policy Analyst, Sustainable Development Commission


Dr Tim Jenkins joined the SDC in November 2009 as Senior Economic Policy Analyst. Previously he was Lead Economist at Friends of the Earth EW&NI.

Tim has researched and published work on the employment impacts of environmental policies, environmental taxation and innovation. His PhD examined the relationship between environmental regulations and innovation.

Chris Tuppen, Director
Chief Sustainability Officer, BT


BT's Chief Sustainability Officer, Chris' remit covers all aspects of sustainability and corporate responsibility issues. In addition to helping set the company's sustainability strategy he frequently engages with strategic stakeholders including regulators, investors and customers.  He also provides advice to  other companies and organisations on sustainability issues.

In January 2008, Chris Tuppen was named by The Guardian newspaper as one of the 50 people who could save the planet from environmental disaster."

Philip Wolfe, Director
Non Executive Director, Renewable Energy Association

Philip is a Non Executive Director at the Renewable Energy Association, where he served as Director General from 2003 to 2009. He is a pioneer of the renewable energy sector, which he first entered in 1975.

Philip founded the advisory company Wolfe Ware in 2003; and Ownergy, which provides tariff-supported renewable systems to businesses and consumers, in 2009.

Andrew Raingold, Deputy Director

Andrew Raingold joined the Aldersgate Group as Public Affairs Manager in January 2007.  Previously, he was the Environment Manager at the Training and Development Agency, drafting and implementing their Sustainable Development Action Plan, and graduated from Edinburgh University with a Masters in Political Science.

 

Victoria Fleming-Williams, Policy Officer

Victoria formally joined the Aldersgate Group Secretariat in April 2010, having provided part-time support since June 2009. She completed her Masters from King's College London in November 2009. Previously she worked in marketing, handling property, technology, food and aviation clients.
