Group Structure and Board of Directors

The Aldersgate Group operates in an open and collegiate manner, with all members having equality of esteem and meeting quarterly to discuss policy matters.

The Board of Directors are responsible for the direct management of Aldersgate Group resources and activities, and advise on operations and the work programme.

Peter Young, Chairman
Strategy Director, Enviros

Peter Young is Strategy Director at Enviros and has 27 years experience in multi-disciplinary environmental management consulting.

He is also founder and Director of CAT Alliance Ltd, a member of the Advisory Council for the Environmental Industries Commission and was recently a commissioner on the Commission on Environmental Markets and Economic Performance.

Adrian Wilkes, Vice Chairman
Chairman, Environmental Industries Commission

Adrian Wilkes is the Founder Chairman of The Environmental Industries Commission, which was launched in April 1995 to promote the international competitiveness of the British environmental technology and services industry.

He has been Secretary of the All-Party Parliamentary Environment Group since its formation in early 1993.

Sir John Harman, Treasurer
Chairman, Environment Agency


In June 2008, Sir John Harman stepped down as Chairman of the Environment Agency, having served the Agency (first as a Board member and then as Deputy Chairman) since 1996. Sir John received a knighthood in June 1997 in recognition of his services to local government and the environment.

Sir John is currently a Director of the Energy Savings Trust, a Trustee of Forum for the Future and a Board member of the National School of Government.

Ian Dickie, Director
Senior Consultant, Eftec


Ian Dickie joined Economics for the Environment Consultancy (Eftec) as a senior consultant in November 2007. Ian has advised Government of UK environmental policies through Defra's Ministerial Regulatory Challenge Panel and the Environmental Innovation Advisory Group in DTI (now BERR).

Prior to working at Eftec, Ian was involved a wide variety of economic issues affecting biodiversity conservation as Head of Economics at the RSPB for 5 years.

Dr Tim Jenkins, Director
Lead Economist, Friends of the Earth


Dr Tim Jenkins is Lead Economist at Friends of the Earth EW&NI. He has researched and published work on the employment impacts of environmental policies, environmental taxation, environmental innovation and technology transfer. His PhD examined the relationship between environmental regulations and innovation.
